Umang Pathak is a lawyer, a social worker, a teacher, a student, a mentor and a mentee. Umang Pathak has
professional experience of around two decades of which 16 years was extensive legal experience, at three of
India’s finest law firms gaining varied legal experience including sustainable business advisory, corporate
governance, commercial litigation, arbitration dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and
general corporate advisory in various areas such as companies law, foreign investments, securities law, contract
law etc.
She is founder of ESG Advisory Services to focus on advising companies, foundations, trusts, non-government organisations and their leadership in the creation and implementation of a business social responsibility framework. Establishing business responsibility framework includes ESG due diligence, ESG materiality mapping, environment policies, ethics/anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy, sustainable sourcing and supply chain development, whistle-blower framework, CSR framework, stakeholder and activist engagement / management 1 and grievance redressal mechanism and POSH etc.), CSR and business responsibility reporting etc. The practice also involves advising companies in formulating policy and governance framework (including compliance) in line with applicable Indian law, MCA National Voluntary Guidelines of Responsible Business Conduct and international best practices.
